How I finally accepted my mental illness and let go of shame and resentment.

Today I am grateful to my mum, who got me the help when I needed it, to my therapist, who always knows what to say and do, and to my pills, which make me healthy and never let me go back to that hellhole I was in before.

Ultimately, you make the choice between accepting something and fighting against it. In the first case, you’ll live in peace and in the second, you’ll just fight against yourself until there’s no more fight left in you.

I choose to be grateful. 🙂

One last reality check — mental illness is forever, so don’t expect to get rid of it in a few shakes. It’s going to spring up from time to time, but you will learn how to handle it, and that’s the best feeling to me.
