How I finally accepted my mental illness and let go of shame and resentment.

After you do, everything will get better. I promise.

Naturally, there will be a period of weirdness — you might feel off at first, you might even feel less creative or slower somehow (specifically for Bipolar), but whatever your illness is and no matter how you feel as a result of treating it, it’s worth it.

If you treat it, you can live your life to the fullest, if you don’t, you can get by in between moments of crippling madness.

Being healthy is worth it. Period.

And you know what? I did resent my pills at the start, I was tempted to stop, I didn’t like being so dependent on something or being afraid it would somehow damage me, but the minute you accept something, that’s the moment when you stop fighting against yourself.
