How I finally accepted my mental illness and let go of shame and resentment.

Thing is, the minute you start treating it, you’ll feel immense relief and regret that you let it get out of control. That you let yourself suffer for more than you had to.

It’s kind of like letting cancer spread everywhere in your body because you were ashamed to let the doctors see what was going on in your body.

It’s basically the same thing.

So, please, before it’s too late — because mental illness does get worse in time — ask for help or accept the help that’s offered to you. Don’t suffer the illusion that it’s going to go away on its own, it won’t. Let your loved ones help you. Tell somebody real quiet you need help, and they’ll help you.
