Andrew Marr’s stroke caused by intense exercise

Andrew Marr has revealed that the stroke that almost killed him was caused by work-out on rowing machine, as the BBC presenter warns against intense exercise.

Marr made his first television appearance yesterday since suffering a stroke three and a half months ago, and said that he was “lucky to be alive”.

He blamed his hospitalisation on the fact that he had done a short but intensive work-out – in line with what he had read was good for his health.

His warning of the damage physical exertion can cause is echoed by some in the medical profession, who say that exercise can actually be bad for you and can increase the risk of a stroke or heart attack.
